ILOILO-JAFA Chapter Marks its 1st Centenary
Posted on 05.12.2009; Published on PHILJAFAN Volume 1 Issue No. 4On May 01, 2009 PHILJAFA Iloilo can proudly rejoice as it has been a year since it was established through the efforts and financial support of the officers and board of directors who took the initiative of organizing the JICA returned participants from the region in order to form a chapter. The establishment of this chapter was made possible through the "PHILJAFA Agency Visit and Re-organization Project - Phase II" which was partly funded by JICA. PHILJAFA-Iloilo is headed by Dr. Gilda D. Lio-Po, Head Fish Health Section , Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center Aquaculture Department, (SEAFDEC/AQD), she is a recipient of Outstanding JICA Fellow in 2007. Members of this chapter are JICA participants coming from the various local and national agencies in Iloilo city and nearby towns. Congratulations PHILJAFA Iloilo!
On the same occasion a chapter in Bacolod was initially formed and a second visit will be made for its formal establishment. The chapter will be housed at the Technological University of the Philippines Visayas campus through Ms. Nona E. Escandelor, Assistant Director for Administration and Finance. Ms. Escandelor was awarded an honorary membership of PHILJAFA.
